I blinded him, and asked him to play e-drum either with 128 sample or 64 sample, and monitored over headphones. I used reaper as the lean DAW to minimize latency derived from the DAW host, and RME's sound card HDSPe AIO and UFX. This happened with my drummer when I asked him to play E-drum and trigger Superior Drummer virtual instrument. If you are latency-sensitive player, I believe you would like 64 much better than 128.

That means either the driver was not stable enough at that buffer, or simply the driver doesn't allow you to use lower than 64 samples. If you look at the table carefully, Mbox 3 doesn't have numbers for 64 ASIO sample buffer. I encourage you to check this original instead.Īudio Interface - Low Latency Performance Data Base : The reason is, the low latency performance data you found in DAWbench are the one somebody else proposed as new metrics (sweet spot is not in TAFKAT's original database). Well, I understand you want to buy something ASAP, but I suggest to do some more research. Anyway, it seems reassuring for prospective buyers on PC.

The author was able to figure out the source of the problem, and I see the Komplete 6 listed in his "Top Recommended" section. Can anyone vouch for the quality of the Komplete Audio 6 PC drivers?ĮDIT: This Article seems to describe the problem that many people are having with the Komplete Audio 6. I really like what the Komplete Audio 6 has to offer, but I want to be sure it'll be a safe buy, seeing as I've already had to return one audio interface. Sorry in any case you had issues with the box.Damn, this new information does not make my decision easier. Do you have wireless disabled on your machine?

If you are using the latest drivers from NI.have you tried ASIO4ALL to see if you still had problems?Ī seems most people's problems with USB interfaces tend to point at one time or another to certain chipsets having difficulty with Network conflicts. I only ask because all the posts you pointed to are based off of previous driver sets from 2012 or earlier. However.I did read through the links you posted Phaidon.and I guess this is a no-brainer question to ask.but are you using the latest drivers? I should have mentioned.I am using a Mac.So I cannot comment on the stability of the NI Komplete Audio 6 on a PC. I'm now leaning towards the Komplete Audio 6, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone thinks it'd be worth it to pay a little extra for the Mbox 3.

The Komplete Audio 6, on the other hand is designed just for my needs, has received high praise here and on other forums, is cheaper, and comes with some optimized amp modeling software (limited as it may be without additional purchases), which would save me money and latency.

I see the Mbox as a good option because is seems to edge out the Komplete Audio 6 just slightly in DAWbench (although the difference in performance appears to be pretty negligible), and it's Avid's own piece of hardware, so I know it will work great in Pro Tools and be widely used across forums (easier to find help). Ok, that said, I'm looking at two interfaces right now (thanks to your suggestions): The Mbox 3 and the NI Komplete Audio 6. Firewire, USB, and PCI interfaces should all work with it, but I'd prefer to go with a USB interface, in case I need to work on a laptop. I built the machine about a year and a half ago, and I still consider it to be pretty high end. nVidia GTX 670 (not sure if the GPU can be utilized by any of this software)

8GB RAM (I might upgrade this to 16GB in the near future) I'm currently using a PC with the following specs: I realize now that I probably should have included more information. So any recommendations for Low latency Interface with Hi-Z input good enough to not clip ever regarding which guitar is in use? You mention that the results would be like 6.7 at the moment with the latest drivers, I believe you are talking about Windows drivers? I looked at NI site and their Mac driver hasn't been updated since 2011 but Windows driver's have been resently. How are the LLP's low latency results comparable to Mac drivers? I suppose the results would vary a lot for certain interfaces when using Windows versus Mac?Īlso I've been recommended to try NI Komplete Audio 6 and I would be interested to know what is the latency there now. I've read the issue has been on for example Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, MOTU Microbook II and Steinberg UR22. Some of the interfaces I've been looking at has the Hi-Z input somehow Ohm value(?) too low to record guitars as the signal would clip. Hi-Z input would be important as weel as I would like to just plug in my guitar and record it with VST/AU effects. I'm looking for a low latency USB/FW interface for MacBook Pro.
